Dalton Castle Reflects On His Sidelining Back Injury -- "I Had Broken My Two Bones In My Back”

Dalton Castle talks about how things have changed for him since his back injury.

"The Party Peacock" Dalton Castle became Ring Of Honor World Champion at the 2017 'Final Battle' pay-per-view where he defeated Cody to become champion. Castle would hold onto the title for several months until he dropped it to Jay Lethal at the ROH TV tapings this past June. Throughout that entire championship run and longer, Dalton Castle wrestled with a broken back.

Castle was a part of Sam Roberts' live show in August during SummerSlam weekend and shared that he was competing with a broken back for the past two years.

?Alright now life is pretty boring because I?m injured. I got hurt and here?s the truth about the injury, I broke my back everybody - pretty cool huh? And we?ve decided, several doctors thought that it might have been two years ago I broke it so I won a World Championship with a broken freaking back.? Castle revealed.

Castle took time off in June after he dropped the title and he returned at the ROH TV tapings in Philadelphia in October and earlier this month Castle competed in a singles match at Ring Of Honor's 'Final Battle' pay-per-view and fell in defeat to Matt Taven. Prior to 'Final Battle', Castle spoke with Brian Fritz of Sporting News and further opened up about his back injury that was literally a pain in his back for the greater portion of two years.

?We discovered that I had an old fracture in my back ? what they call a Pars defect ? and I had broken my two bones in my back,? explained Castle. ?I had two little fractures in my back that went ignored for a couple of years and I just kept wrestling and because they were ignored. They shift a little bit and I started getting some nerve impingement, which would just make it unbearable to stand or be on my feet. My routine of life had just been changed completely and not only that, when I'm not on the road, I like to be working towards something when I'm at home,? said Castle. ?I like to be at the gym training. I like to be a working on a new design for an entrance or something like that, but knowing that I didn't have a definitive date to return and knowing that I can't exactly go as hard in the gym [as] I like to, it was very tough. It was emotionally draining and it was just hard." Castle expressed. "There's no way I was an easy person to be around, but I mean, thankfully, I kept pushing forward and I got back to where I need to be. I guess a nightmare sums it up.?
