Dana White Says He'll Be Calling Brock Lesnar Or A Fighter At 205 To Face Daniel Cormier

Will Brock be getting the call?

Ever since the current WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar made a surprise appearance at the conclusion of UFC 226 and confronted the newly-crowned UFC Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier, a number of wrestling and MMA fans have been wondering when the show-down between the two athletes will transpire. A few location and dates have been thrown out to the public but nothing has been confirmed or made official.

Daniel Cormier last competed at UFC 230 in early November where he bested Derrick Lewis to retain the UFC Heavyweight Championship. At the conclusion of that bout during the post-fight interviews, Cormier constantly reiterated with a smile on his face that he wanted to hold both the UFC Heavyweight and WWE Universal Championships. UFC President Dana White was asked about the potential Lesnar versus Cormier bout while speaking to the media recently and shared that he was told that Brock just re-upped on new deals with WWE.

“Yeah, I don’t know. So, one of the guys that I met with yesterday in PR told me that he had heard that Brock Lesnar just signed a bunch of new WWE deals.” Dana continued, “No, it doesn’t [prevent Brock from competing in the UFC]. It does not, so we’ll see.”

Dana then continued by talking about how busy he was and did not have time at the current moment to worry about one future fight when there is a lot on his plate now. He stated that Daniel Cormier is dealing with an injury but when he is all healed up, he'll [Dana] be making the call to either Brock Lesnar or a fighter at the 205 weight limit because Cormier wants to fight at that weight as well.

“Well, I got sh*t to do this week. I’m not focused on Brock Lesnar this week - you know what I mean? If I needed to talk to Brock, I’d pick him up and call him when I needed to but, what are you saying? Because you’re asking me these questions I should call Brock and see what’s going on? I don’t know. Daniel Cormier is hurt. So it doesn’t matter right now." Dana said. "If you guys knew how much sh*t that I have to do in a day, okay? I’m not working on stuff that I need to work on later. I’m working on stuff that needs to be done now. So, Daniel is hurt, he’s out for a while. I don’t know what Brock is doing, but as Daniel starts to get better and we start looking at dates that Cormier might defend his title, I’ll be calling Brock or somebody at 205, because Daniel told me he still wants to fight at 205. He wants to fight there."
