Dana White Says Khabib Nurmagomedov May Be Stripped Of Title, Conor McGregor Wouldn't Press Charges

Dana White was in awe of UFC 229 for all the wrong reasons.

Khabib Nurmagomedov submitted Conor McGregor in one of the biggest fights in MMA history, but it's what happened after that has everyone talking. Nurmagomedov scaled and jumped the cage to attack McGregor's teammate Dillon Danis. After the event, UFC President Dana White spoke to Fox about what happened.

Karrion Kross: There's Something Much Bigger Going On Here Than What's Happening In The Ring

“A lot of bad stuff. A lot of stuff that shouldn’t have happened. Khabib jumped over the cage going after one of Conor’s guys who I guess was talking trash to him and all hell broke loose. This is a… another… obviously, I don’t know, I don’t even know what to say right now. I’m just disgusted and sick over it," said White.

White later said at the UFC Post-Fight Presser that Conor McGregor refused to press charges on three of Nurmagomedov's teammates that came after him in the cage, and mentioned he was otherwise okay.

“I just talked to him - I just met with him and he’s OK. You know he’s upset about the fight. Not about the fight after the fight," said White.

White noticeably didn't put the UFC Lightweight Championship around Khabib's waist following the melee. The UFC President explains his line of thinking as protecting people in the cage.

“Yeah I knew that was gonna happen. I said if we put the belt on him in the octagon they’re going to [be] throwing whatever they got down into the octagon so I said let's just try to get him out of here without… you know, any incident," said White.

The future will likely see repercussions for Nurmagomedov's camp and the man himself. White said that the three members of Khabib's team who attacked Conor will not fight in the UFC, and looked at what lies ahead.

"What happens here is three guys have been arrested. There [are going] to be charges filed against them I’m sure and God knows what the Nevada State Athletic Commission is going to do to Khabib and his guys, I think they’re fighters. You know, [are] these guys ever going to get a VISA again to get back in this country - there’s a lot of things, there’s a lot of repercussions from what they did tonight. Ones that I don’t even think they realize yet," said White.

White also wouldn't commit to not stripping Nurmagomedov of the title, and that the Nevada Athletic Commission is withholding Khabib's fight purse (of $2 million), but gave McGregor his.
