Danhausen Says This Character Is Much Closer To Himself Than His Past Efforts

Danhausen credits Effy with helping him find his way and flesh out his beloved character.

Danhausen is currently one of the most prolific wrestlers and not only the independent wrestling scene but Ring of Honor as well. Bringing with him a unique aura that he says has elements of Conan O'Brien, Elvira, and Beetlejuice, Danhausen is a fan favorite everywhere he goes because of the charm and entertaining element he brings to wrestling.

Speaking with Gamespot, the spookster reveals how shifting to its character helped him come out of his shell and want to be more of his true self in the ring.

"This is much more me. This is me incorporating every aspect of my personality into this character. Besides the fact, in real life, I'm really not that outgoing, so this character is a way for me to be more out there," Danhausen said. "Growing up, I was very shy, and talking in front of audiences makes me very nervous, but this whole character really helps with that. Anything I grew up with, or the things I took along the way of just living like late-night comedy, cartoons, horror, it's all in this character."

Danhausen further credits Effy with helping him find the right name for the character which was a lot closer to Danhausen than he might have thought.

"I remember talking to [professional wrestler] Effy about it", he said. "He suggested [my last name]. It stands out but it's just a German last name and goes with the weird aesthetic I have going on."
