Dani Luna Doesn’t Think She Was Ready For WWE When She Signed, Knew Release Would Turn Her Into ‘Something More Valuable’
Dani Luna comments on her stint with WWE.
After spending two and a half years with the company, Dani Luna was released from WWE in August 2022. Luna was cut alongside a ton of other NXT UK names, not limited to but including Mark Andrews, Trent Seven, and Flash Morgan Webster.
The very next year, Dani Luna started working for TNA, where she found success with Webster and Andrews. After signing a contract with the company, Luna joined forces with Jody Threat for a dominant tag team run that ended earlier this year.
Speaking with the I Love Wrestling Podcast, Luna was honest about not being ready for WWE, as she was signed at the age of 19.
“No, I don’t necessarily think I was ready. I think I was physically capable enough and ability wise, I think I was ready. But ultimately, I was very much still a child and that’s such a big scary world to be thrown into, suddenly Shawn Michaels is my boss. It’s such a crazy thing to go through at that age. I think more so that I was just kind of passive, you know? I’d go to training, I’d do what I was asked, I was very easy to work with but I feel like I didn’t necessarily have anything about me yet because I was still a very blank slate of a wrestler. Being there kind of helped build me up to the become the Dani Luna I am today. I feel like leaving WWE and having some time on the indies to grow as well really created the wrestler that I actually am today and somebody that very much believes in what I put out there and what I present to the world that I now get to show on TNA every week. I feel like I wouldn’t be the wrestler I am without all these things happening and even it feels terrible at the time, to be released from WWE, I knew that it was going to turn me into something better and something more valuable, which I feel like I am now.”
