Recently, it was announced that Darby Allin was out of action and not cleared for action in the Continental Classic, with Jungle Jack Perry stepping in to take his spot in the Gold League. Despite this, Darby is not concerned with losing his spot while out of action.
While speaking to 11Alive in a new interview, Darby spoke about how he’s feeling while out of action, noting that he isn’t concerned with someone taking his spot while he’s out injured.
“So honestly, I passed all their tests. I passed every protocol that they had. But at this rate, it’s just, ‘hey, take a few weeks off.’ Give yourself a break, and if Everest taught me anything, it’s just to focus on your outside life and not constantly wanting to be in the spotlight. If I have to just sit back for two weeks and then take me out of the tournament, so be it, it’s fine. Like I have no problem with that. Cause there’s a lot of people that are like, ‘oh, I can’t, I don’t want to lose my spot. I gotta be on TV every week.’ I don’t care. I don’t care. If they want what’s best for me, I can respect that. But from a standpoint of me speaking to you, I feel 100%. I could do it, definitely I could do it tomorrow, but they’re just saying, pump the brakes, and it’s fine, because you’ve got to think of the long game. It’s not a sprint, it’s a marathon.”
Elsewhere in the same interview, Darby spoke about reaching the peak of Mount Everest. You can read more about that here.
