Darren Young has nothing but love for Jake Atlas.
Atlas, who signed with WWE in October 2019, is an openly gay superstar who recently made his NXT debut. Young was also an openly gay superstar in WWE and he is a big supporter of Atlas and his WWE career.
"Every time I bring up Jake Atlas' name, I say I wanna marry the kid. Literally. But when I say "marry him," it's a term in wrestling where you're wrestling him every night, five-six days a week, or however long you're working with that person. You're married to them. Jake is someone, he's probably my top five favorite matches. He had great instincts, attitude. He's a quiet guy backstage, but he really let loose, I let him know I was his number one fan and rooting for him," Young told the Hashtag Show.
Atlas is set to compete in the interim NXT Cruiserweight Title tournament.
Now that he's moved on from WWE, Young is currently involved in the Broadway scene. Initially hesitant, Young credits Chris Jericho for being an inspiration in finding his Broadway passion.
"Chris Jericho was a big inspiration. I'm 36. At 26, I would not have done this. Chris Jericho doing Dancing With The Stars, I said to myself, 'If he can do it, why can't I?' I look at the experience of a professional athlete going on Dancing With The Stars," he said.
Young was set to be part of WrestleMania week as a special guest at WWE Axxess.
