Dave Lagana Explains How The NWA National Title Will Be Presented Differently Than The World Title

The man behind the scenes provides some insight.

On October 21st the National Wrestling Alliance hosted their 70th Anniversary Show. The event was held at the infamous 'Tennessee State Fairground Sports Arena' which most wrestling enthusiasts know as 'The Asylum'. On the night we saw Nick Aldis become a two-time NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion by defeating Cody in a 2-Out-Of-3 Falls Match. Jazz retained her NWA World Women's Championship in dominating fashion, the return of the Crockett Cup was announced and Willie Mack went to distance in the NWA National Heavyweight Championship tournament to be crowned the new champ.

The man behind the scenes who is responsible for drawing attention back to the NWA from the newer generation is Dave Lagana. Lagana and the '10 Pounds Of Gold' series has been credited for bringing new life to the NWA and prior to the 70th Anniversary Show, Dave sat down with Kenny McIntosh of 'Inside The Ropes' and explained how the NWA National Heavyweight Title is going to be presented in a different light than the World Title.

“But we’re bringing back the National title and our goal is… well this is a replica of the ten pounds of gold, our goal is that champion and championship will be represented differently as far as, I don’t think we’ll do a documentary about the National Champion but the content play on it will be unique upon its own and it’s not just going to be a championship." Dave explained. "The idea is whoever is that champion will carry an obligation - very similar to the ten pounds, but in a different way content wise.”
