John Hennnigan will challenge for the gold on MLW Underground.
On the February 21 episode of MLW Underground, Hennigan arrived in Major League Wrestling when he came out and seemingly saved Davey Richards from a beatdown at the hands of Sam Adonis and Cesar Duran's henchman.

Richards previously won the title by defeating Alex Kane at MLW Battle Riot IV on June 23, 2022, though the match did not air until the November 18 episode of MLW Fusion.
