David Finlay: I’ve Never Made A Dime With My Brother Or My Dad. I’ve Almost Paid Off A House With The Dogs
David Finlay, Clark Connors, and Gabe Kidd explain their decision to sign with AEW.
The news of the trio being All Elite broke shortly after Finlay’s return to the promotion on the March 4 episode of AEW Dynamite. Speaking with Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp for a new interview, Finlay reminded fans that he’s never made a dime in this business with his dad or brother.
“I’ll start. It was very easy for me, obviously I got family ties in other companies. I’ve never made a dime with my brother, I’ve never made a dime with my dad, and I’ve almost paid off a house with these guys. For me, that was an easy business choice.”
Clark Connors chimed in after that, saying that he was done with Japan.
“For me personally, I was just done with Japan, my friend. I’ve been over there for seven years, seven long years. I want to come here and show the world exactly what Clark Connors can do, baby.”
Gabe Kidd went on to say that his love for NJPW died.
“Sometimes, love dies. You know what I’m saying? Sometimes things go a way you don’t expect them to go. I come here because we’re coming for the heads of every single name in this company. We’re taking their spots, straight up. We’re coming here collectively and we’re gonna bit everyone’s head off.”
Fightful proceeded to ask Kidd about some of the pushback that he has received for leaving NJPW.
“Of course. I’ll get successful, you get mad about it. Suck your mom for that one. It’s ridiculous. It doesn’t affect me in any way, imma roll with my dogs, bite man’s head off and end people and make a statement. Let’s be real here. New Japan, as soon as I had that Kenny match, they should’ve given me a New Japan title shot. Are you stupid? Why have I never had an IWGP heavyweight title match? It’s a fucking joke. Disrespect us, yeah, alright, see you in a bit. Matinee, dickhead.”
