Jonathan Coachman recently compared the Smackdown duo of Dean Ambrose and James Ellsworth to the Rock 'n' Sock Connection, during an appearance by Ambrose and Ellsworth on ESPN's "Off The Top Rope" segment.
Only one problem... Ambrose and Ellsworth had problems determining which of them would be The Rock, and which would be Mankind.
The following exchange took place during the segment between Ambrose and Ellsworth:
Ellsworth: "Well, [Coach] just compared us to The Rock 'n' Sock Connection. I guess I would be The Rock, right? And [Ambrose] would be Mick Foley."
Ambrose: "[Ellsworth] hadn't been in any movies, right? You haven't been in a movie?"
Ellsworth: "No, not yet."
Ambrose: "I would definitely be The Rock if one of us had to be The Rock. I'm taller and I would be, but then again, I am 'The King Of The Death Match,' so there. We'll get [Ellsworth] to the gym and get you a better haircut. Maybe [Ellsworth] could be The Rock. Get [Ellsworth] some cool sunglasses. I'm going to remember [Ellsworth] said that."
Both Ambrose and Ellsworth are lined up for WWE World Heavyweight Title shots. Ambrose will challenge AJ Styles in the main event of TLC on Dec. 11, while Ellsworth earned a future title shot by defeating Styles in a ladder match on the Nov. 22 episode of Smackdown.
Ellsworth and Ambrose have been a duo on Smackdown since September, after Styles defeated Ambrose to become World Heavyweight Champion. Ellsworth actually has beaten Styles three times on Smackdown -- benefiting from Ambrose's assistance in each of those matches, to some degree.
