Deonna Purrazzo: AEW’s Tuition Reimbursement Program Made Pursuing My Master’s Degree Possible
Deonna Purrazzo discusses how supportive AEW has been in her pursuit of higher education, and how that ultimately led her to decide to sign with the promotion.
Deonna Purrazzo is one of the most decorated women’s wrestlers in the industry today. Currently, she’s with AEW. Just as she’s dedicated to becoming the best wrestler she can be, outside of the squared circle, Purrazzo is also committed to her growth as she continues to pursue her degree in history.
Speaking with former TNA Knockout SoCal Val in an interview for WrestlingNewsCo, the AEW star noted that a big reason she chose to sign with Tony Khan’s wrestling organization is because of their dedication to helping talents excel outside of the ring when they decide to pursue higher education. She also explained that they reimburse a portion of their tuition.
“AEW really is so great. Encouraging us to go back to school. They are constantly like, ‘If you go back…’ and they have a program where they reimburse us for our tuition up to a certain amount every year. They are so on board with, like, if that’s something you want to do, we want to support it. So that was a really big part of why I was happy to go there. I had just gotten my bachelor’s degree the summer of 2023, and I was like, ‘Maybe I want to get a master’s,’ but, like, going somewhere that’s going to be supportive of that was huge for me. So I’m very, very grateful that they’ve made it so easy and so seamless for me to be able to go back to school, and I’m halfway through my master’s degree.”
