Details Behind ROH TV Deal Talks And What Happened
Ring of Honor still doesn’t have a television deal, but there were offers and discussions in the past. In fact, there was an offer on the table from Warner Bros. Discovery that sort of ended up happening.
In the past, it was noted that ROH has had discussions regarding a potential television deal. When Fightful inquired about the details, we were just told that Tony Khan had a specific goal and amount he thought such a deal was worth. We also learned that there had been inquiries, that actually led to another deal.
In January, TruTV began airing replays of AEW Dynamite Friday nights at 10 PM ET. Sources close to WBD claimed to Fightful Select that deal actually came about from discussions regarding an ROH TV slot. However, the terms weren’t quite there to make a deal, but AEW was open to running a replay of Dynamite in that spot for the deal instead. We’re told that wasn’t even an amount that AEW had particularly expected when hammering out their rights deal initially, and the two sides came to terms, leading to that weekly replay.
There has been interest over the last few years from a number of suitors for ROH TV. However, we’ve not ever been told that a deal was particularly close. Similarly, there were rumors of AEW Shockwave, but we were told that was simply a theory and a pitch as opposed to something firm.
