Fightful Select reports “the creative for Brock/Cena was locked in a week prior to the match; the result of the match wasn’t changed the day of, contrary to reports.”

Brock Lesnar returned at WWE SummerSlam, his first television appearance in two years, attacking John Cena, who had just lost the Undisputed WWE Title to Cody Rhodes. Lesnar vs. Cena was made official for Wrestlepalooza in the weeks after Lesnar’s return.
