Diego Hill Reflects On Wrestling KUSHIDA, ‘A Mind-Blowing Opportunity’
Diego Hill reflects on facing KUSHIDA.
At MLW Summer of the Beasts, Diego Hill wrestled KUSHIDA in a match that marked a major milestone in his career. Not only did he earn the veteran’s respect, but he also walked away with an official MLW contract. Following the experience, Hill is now taking time to reflect on what that moment meant to him both personally and professionally.
During a recent interview with Jeremy Lambert and SP3 on Fightful Overbooked’s In The Weeds, Diego Hill looked back on the match. He shared that the opportunity felt mind-blowing, and in that moment, his only goal was to prove he was TV-ready. Moreover, he emphasized that his hard work and consistent effort enabled him to achieve that goal. Ultimately, Hill sees the experience as a launching point and an opening of new doors for his future in MLW.
“They never told me I was going to wrestle KUSHIDA. I figured it out the same way y’all figured it out when they announced it. My reaction to that was ‘Holy shit, I’m wrestling a New Japan legend.’ He’s won titles and traveled all over the world. Having the opportunity to step in there with him, moments like that, I was in my head like, ‘I hope I don’t mess up or make him mad.’ An opportunity like that was mind-blowing. I was in my head a lot, but once it was show time, ‘It’s time to fucking go. It’s time to humble myself. It’s time to show these motherfuckers that I’m TV-ready.’ That’s what I did.”
