D’Lo Brown: TNA Going Head-To-Head With WWE Was The Dumbest Thing Ever
On January 4, 2010, TNA iMPACT started running head-to-head with WWE Raw in what was dubbed the new Monday Night Wars.
The move was made by Eric Bischoff, who brought in the original Monday Night Wars when WCW Nitro went up against Raw. Bischoff and WCW famously won 83 weeks before ultimately losing the war when WWE bought WCW.
“I went back to, I won’t say a bag of tricks, necessarily, but I went back to a strategy. Going head-to-head with WWE was going to make so much noise. It was about creating awareness,” Bischoff said on Dark Side of the Ring.
D’Lo Brown stated, “I thought it was the dumbest thing. Trying to go Monday night live with a company that spends more on pyro than we spend on production.”
The Monday Night Wars between TNA and WWE lasted ten weeks. WWE won each week.
