Doc Gallows Explains Why He Was ‘On The Fence’ About Bringing Back Festus Character

Doc Gallows was unsure about bringing Festus back.

Gallows brought back the character earlier this year in MLW’s Battle Riot match. The gimmick resurfaced a few months later in a Bunkhouse Stampede Match for the company’s Southern Crown Championship.

Speaking with The Wrestling Classic for a new interview, Doc Gallows talked about bringing back the character.

“It was one of those things, I was really trepidatious about it and really on the fence about it because I hadn’t done that character in 17 years. Certainly haven’t done it since I’ve been with him for the last 12 or whatever, haven’t even thought about it. I was like, the character’s dated, I don’t know if it’ll be well received and I don’t know if anyone will remember it. All I cared about was that they did and it got a hell of a reaction, so that was fun. I don’t know if it something I want to do all the time, I don’t think it’s something you can do all the time. But, it was fun to go out there and get a couple of big reactions.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Gallows and Karl Anderson talked about the future of AJ Styles. Check out his full comments by clicking here.
