Below are highlights from both Friday night wrestling shows.

Lyra Valkyria Recalls Getting Advice From Becky Lynch, 'She Told Me To Just Be Myself'

WWE SmackDown

- Because the July 21 episode of SmackDown was held in Orlando, Florida, there was a strong NXT presence on the show. The final match on the card saw WWE Raw Superstar Dominik Mysterio successfully defend the NXT North American Title against a former champion, Butch. This match was at the personal request of "HBK" Michaels, who made an appearance on the show.

- Charlotte Flair got the better of IYO SKY in a back-and-forth encounter. During this match, Bayley left commentary after being spooked by a Shotzi vignette. After the match, Asuka attacked "The Queen."

- Rey Mysterio faces fellow LWO stablemate Santos Escobar next week for the right to challenge Austin Theory for the WWE United States Championship.

- In perhaps a preview of things to come, on July 21, Santos Escobar defeated Austin Theory, who managed to land the Phantom Driver after avoiding the A-Town Down.

- Backstage, Rey Mysterio met NXT standout Dragon Lee. Learn more here.

- On the July 21 edition of WWE SmackDown, Roman Reigns and Jey Uso established the ground rules for their forthcoming encounter for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at SummerSlam. Uso tore up the contract for the event and stated that the tribe's elders proposed that the match be held under Tribal Combat rules. Learn more here.
