Don Callis: Kenny Omega Has Had The Best Six Months Of Anyone In Wrestling

Don Callis changes his tune on Kenny Omega.

Since ditching the ‘Best Bout Machine’ back in 2023, Don Callis has been very critical of Kenny Omega and his decisions in the world of pro wrestling. In a new interview with Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp, Callis complimented Omega for his match with MJF and said that he’s had the best six months of anyone in the business.

“I’m going to do something I don’t normally do. I’m going to compliment Tyson Smith. The match with MJF was an incredible pro wrestling match. I was blown away. I was someone who did not think we would ever see the old Kenny Omega. I just never thought we would see that and what he’s done the last few months has truly been something special. There’s so many things to dislike about Tyson Smith, but you can’t take it away from him. He has had the best six months of anyone in wrestling. I don’t know how else you can say it, Sean. I’m not going to let my personal feelings taint what is very obvious to anyone who could see it.”

Callis continued on to say that Omega looks comfortable in his own skin for the first time.

“The Mona Lisa is the fucking Mona Lisa, man. It is what it is. Is he still what I nicknamed him, the God of Pro Wrestling? I don’t know, but right now he is for sure. The thing with Kenny was he was never comfortable in his own skin and for the first time in all the time I’ve known him, he looks like he’s like really comfortable, in the groove. I think he won that match against Max partly because he was like, ‘Screw it. I’m all in. I can’t hold anything back. There’s no one in my head. I’m just going to do it.’”

Finishing off the topic, Callis said that MJF vs. Omega was at the next level of the art form.

“I thought credit to both those guys. I thought just a beautiful pro wrestling match to watch. They talk about World Cup soccer like it’s the beautiful game, right? When you watch it, it really is incredible. That match with Max and Kenny was professional wrestling as an art form at the next level. It had everything in it for me and full credit to Tyson Smith. I’m sure his family back in Winnipeg is happy for him.”
