Is the longtime partnership/friendship over?
IMPACT Wrestling Co-Executive Vice President, part-time New Japan Pro Wrestling commentator and former 5-time WFWA Canadian Heavyweight Champion Don Callis has kept it no secret whenever he is on the call for NJPW that he is a massive fan of the man who he helped bring into the wrestling business, the current IWGP Heavyweight Champion Kenny Omega. Callis has proclaimed from the moment he put on a headset in New Japan that Omega is the best wrestler in the world and reiterated those sentiments in a joyful manner when Kenny Omega was finally able to defeat Kazuchika Okada to become IWGP Heavyweight Champion at 'Dominion' this past June.
Kenny Omega made a rare appearance for the 'Premiere Championship Wrestling' promotion in his hometown of Winnipeg and the promotion is also where Omega built the foundation of his wrestling career. Once Omega's match was over, fellow Winnipeg native Don Callis got into the ring and had some choice words for "The Cleaner".
“You were trained by me correct? Good to see ya." Callis continued, "Kenny, you went… you took that break I gave you and what have you done? You wrestled a little girl. Kenny, you and your two little friends The Young Bucks... “
The second video is when Callis picked up the pace before he ambushed Omega.
“Six star match? You and I both know that Okada carried you." Callis said. "Lets just be clear about one thing, because it doesn’t get reported, the only reason you got that shot at Okada when you won the title was because I got my friend Chris Jericho to agree to wrestle you. Otherwise, you were gonna be gone. You're welcome Kenny. Without me, there’s no main event at the Tokyo Dome because I begged Chris Jericho. Chris Jericho said, ‘Who the hell is Kenny Omega?’ Chris Jericho said there’s only three people from Winnipeg who ever meant a God damn thing is this business: Roddy Piper, Chris Jericho, and Don by God Callis, and when I hear you put yourself on that list, it makes me sick, and here’s the worst thing that you’ve done: You’ve taken all your talent and all your fame and your IWGP Title and what do you do on the one day off you have? You come to a second rate dive bar with a bunch of losers from Winnipeg. What kind of an IWGP Champion wrestles in front of a bunch of unemployed loser marks on his day off."
Don Callis has not been on the call lately for NJPW because he has his duties with IMPACT Wresting but he has been calling the action for IMPACT and recently received the finger from former IMPACT World Champion Austin Aries at the 'Bound For Glory' PPV. For more on that situation, click here.
