For many professional wrestlers, their children naturally take an interest in following in their parent’s footsteps, and Dijak’s daughter is no different, even recently featuring in a spot where she was almost skewered during one of Donovan’s matches.
While speaking to Fightful Overbooked’s In The Weeds in a recent interview, Donovan Dijak discussed his daughter’s training in pro wrestling.
“For the record, for those who are unaware, my daughter has been training with me in professional wrestling. I don’t bump her or anything, but I bring her to pro wrestling training, and we run drills, and we run exercises and things like that. Anything that doesn’t have me smashing a six-year-old girl around. But she loves it. She loves pro wrestling. She loves everything about pro wrestling. She loves watching it. She loves being there. She loves participating. So I ran the spot by her, and she was a little hesitant, a little concerned, because obviously that’s a concerning thing for a six-year-old girl to be dragged by the hair and almost skewered and stuff by this crazy-looking dude. But she was on board. She wanted to do it. My son wanted to participate, too. So we ended up getting that incredible moment and that incredible spot, which ended up being her in ring debut. She’s since had a number of in ring participation moments since then. She’s only going to have more and more. I think the world of my children, I, I believe deep down in my soul that my, my son is going to be, he’s super into, aerospace engineering and things like that. He wants to be an astronaut. I believe with 100% confidence that he’s going to succeed at an unbelievable level in that department. My daughter is very much interested in professional wrestling. I think if she continues to be interested, she has all the tools and all the gifts in the world to be the greatest professional wrestler in the history of the world. If she so chooses to and that’s what I’m going to do. I’m going to support my kids in whatever they decide to do, because I’m just unbelievably proud of them, and she’s going to be- she’s going to be a 10 year vet at 16. You hear that all the time about people who are like, ‘oh, I started when I was this amount of age or this-‘ whatever. In my mind, I’m like, yeah, but when did you really start? No, my daughter’s training every single week with me. She comes every single week with me to training. We run matches. For those of you who have followed me on Twitter, we wrestled right here. We had a match yesterday, in this room, and that got like 300 000 views on on twitter and YouTube and social media platforms and stuff like that so she she has unbelievable instincts, unbelievable athleticism, so she’s working her little butt off to be an elite professional wrestler, and I’m so proud of her, and I can’t wait to continue to guide her along that journey.”
Elsewhere in the same interview, Dijak spoke about teaming with Baron Corbin and Josh Bishop. You can read more about that here.
