Donovan Dijak: My Career Is In A Very Good Place Right Now
Donovan Dijak is thriving in MLW.
Dijak has been presented as a top star since making his debut for the company in August 2024. He holds victories over acts like Timothy Thatcher, KENTA, and The Good Brothers.
Chatting with Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp for a new interview, Dijak talked about being happy in MLW.
“So I think this right now is probably my favorite. Every time I come to an MLW show, there’s something else and a little bit more that I get to enjoy. But what we’re doing right now, this is really my wheelhouse, right? Especially being here in the ECW Arena, where I haven’t wrestled here for 10 years, but I’ve have had dozens of matches here before. To be able to come back here and experience this particular crowd and get the interaction that I had last night and the backstage opportunity where my daughter’s right there, my son’s right there, and I’m helping to agent and produce matches and I get tons of talking opportunities. I’m getting loads of promo time and backstage vignettes. We did a vignette last night where they’re brawling in the street. Like this is the stuff I enjoy.” The pro wrestling, for me, is always going to be there, right? It’s always going to be my love. When the bell rings, it’s my passion. But I felt that way even when I was psychologically in my worst places. When you’re in WWE and nobody’s listening and your name is T-Bar and you’re like, ‘Do I have a job?’ At the end of the day, the bell would ring and it didn’t matter if I was on main event or a house show or whatever, that was my comfort zone. The bell rang, I was happy, and that’s gonna be the case tonight, it’s gonna be case every other [night].”
Continuing on, Dijak emphasized that his current situation is a great balance of everything that he wants out of the business.
“But everything else around it is what can fluctuate so heavily and right now, the everything else is
beautiful for me. I’m so happy and thankful for that. I was talking with somebody yesterday, Damo—
Damo’s one of my good friends—and I was talking about it yesterday, because he’s experienced the same
thing, his wife is experiencing the same thing right now, those big fluctuations. I said to him, ‘I don’t know
that I can ever give this up,’ and by this I meant how happy I am. That’s not to say that I can’t be happy in
other places. It’s just situationally, you put yourself in the best situations possible for your own happiness
and also to support your family and things like that. It’s a balance of all of it. But right now, I’m so happy
with everything that’s happening in my career and the stories that I’m able to tell and the way that I’m able to tell those stories and the interaction that we have with the fans and then the atmosphere that we have backstage. I’m just in a very good place right now, and I’m thankful and appreciative of that.”
