Donovan Dijak speaks about re-connecting with Tommy End on the indies, as well as two British names he expects big things from.

Over the course of Dijak’s most recent tour of the UK with PROGRESS Wrestling, he would work with several talents, including the likes of Tommy End, Cara Noir and Charles Crowley.

While speaking to Fightful Overbooked’s In The Weeds in a recent interview, Donovan Dijak spoke about his recent tour with PROGRESS, noting his belief that names such as Cara Noir and Charles Crowley will be ‘household names’ within two years.

“I’ve known Tommy forever. I think he’s going by Tommy End now again, right? I wrestled, again, another guy, Tommy End. I wrestled him forever ago for Beyond Wrestling. I think that weekend might have been the 10-year anniversary of when we wrestled, actually, for the first time at Beyond Wrestling. But I met him even a year before that at WXW. He was one of the first guys that came over and spoke to me. This was my- actually fun story here. My first day, in Europe, I think I had visited Europe before because my uncle lives in France, but my first time as a wrestler in Europe was landing in Germany and making my way to the venue at WXW, and I- my brain is backwards because I didn’t have enough sleep and  it was a red eye plane ride or whatever. So I’m just kind of jostled. Everybody’s speaking a different language, which I’m not used to. Tommy walked right over to me and I had heard of him and he had heard of me and he speaks perfect English. So he was just making me feel comfortable in an incredibly uncomfortable situation, which I’ve always remembered, always appreciated, always respected. Um, and, and we’ve had a great friendship ever since we wrestled on the Indies. We wrestle in WWE a million times. I don’t know if people know this. He was my first ever WWE match. Um, so that was wonderful, and now to be able to give that back to him, be his first out-of-WWE match was really important to me, to him, to Damo, and hopefully to the fans as well, because it was a wonderful match. That whole weekend was just a series of wonderful events and matches. I got to wrestle Cara Noir, who’s another guy that I met 10 years ago. He gave me a ride on that same tour. He was the the first person that I met when I landed in the UK, and he gave me a ride up to, I think it was called, like, Hope Wrestling or something, and on the car ride, he was just Tom, and he was just a dude. Then he came out, and he did his whole gimmick, and I was blown away by that. So on that progress tour just recently was our first time wrestling. That was an unbelievable match, another incredible thing, and then I got to wrestle (Charles) Crowley, who was another guy who’s just- these are going to be household names. I had these conversations with these guys. These are going to be household names in probably less than two years, if I had to guess. Because they’re just such unbelievable characters and wrestlers and workers, and to be part of that process, for me, is like one of the most gratifying things in all professional wrestling.”

Elsewhere in the same interview, Dijak spoke about teaming with Baron Corbin and Josh Bishop and the differences between them. You can read more about that here.
