Kurt Angle is one of the most accomplished amateur and professional wrestlers in the world, winning a gold medal at the Olympics before transitioning to professional wrestling, training under Dory before making his full time debut in WWE. That being said, Dory doesn’t take credit for Angle’s training.

While speaking to Going Ringside in a new interview, Dory Funk Jr spoke about Angle’s training, remarking that he didn’t need to teach the WWE Hall Of Famer, calling him a ‘fabulous wrestler’.

“I didn’t need to teach him. He was a fabulous wrestler and his way of wrestling was very, very good. He was an excellent as an amateur wrestler. He took his skills into professional wrestling and they were all good for him.”

Dory Funk Sr was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as part of the 2025 class last year. You can read more about that here.
