Drake Maverick On WWE Needing Creative: You Can't Put Trust Into 270 People To Say What's Okay

Much has been made over the years regarding WWE's creative direction and scripted promos. Jon Moxley recently made headlines again when he discussed WWE scripting talent compared to the freedom he's found in AEW.

While plenty of former WWE wrestlers didn't always have success with the creative process, there are those in WWE who enjoy working with the creative team.

"I love collaborating with the creative team," said Drake Maverick on The Gorilla Position. "They're so good and can make something a little bit better or tighten something up to make it more to the point. I've learned so much from the WWE creative team. The 205 Live General Manager job was a work in progress for me because I had never done a serious role. My writer on 205 Live is now the head writer on Raw. The things I learned from (them), they were so important. Anyone who says 'creative is not required,' I completely disagree. Not only that, there are sponsors on the line and multiple agreements with other companies around the world within WWE. if we go rogue and say whatever we want, I don't think you can put full trust into 270 people to say what's politically okay and it's not going to cost you a sponsor. It's definitely needed, especially in our company being so big."

Maverick's first role in WWE was as General Manager of 205 Live before he made the transition into manager and then wrestler.

According to a report for PWInsider, NXT recently hired 2-3 more writers for the brand. Maverick currently spends his time on NXT and 205.
