Drew McIntyre once again discusses John Cena’s retirement from the world of professional wrestling.

At WWE Survivor Series later tonight, Cena will wrestle in his penultimate match before walking away from the sport of professional wrestling and his career with WWE. One star who repeatedly talked about potentially being Cena’s final opponent was Drew McIntyre, who will feature as part of the men’s WarGames match at the same Premium Live Event later tonight.

While speaking to Get Up in a new interview, Drew spoke about what Cena’s retirement means, noting that Cena has ‘meant everything’ to the industry.

“I mean, he’s meant everything to our industry. When The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin, left WWE, the top superstars at Triple H, Shawn Michaels at the end of their career, the company and the world needed somebody to step up into that top position. John stepped up in a massive way for multiple generations, and it’s insane to see that he’s about to have his last couple of matches. I’m sad I didn’t get one of them, but I’m glad I’m part of the roster. I’m glad I got to travel the world. I’m glad I got to learn from John Cena because he is a legend and he might just be the GOAT.”

Elsewhere in the same interview, McIntyre discussed how the Claymore kick came about. You can read more about that here.
