Drew McIntyre Recalls Cutting A Passionate Promo In Vince McMahon’s Office In 2010, Vince Not Understanding His Accent
Drew McIntyre recalls Vince McMahon not understanding his accent.
Drew McIntyre looks back on Vince McMahon being unable to understand his Scottish accent.
During Drew McIntyre’s first run in WWE, he would be known as Vince McMahon’s ‘Chosen One’ with the pair interacting many times on WWE programming, including after McIntyre’s return to the company in the late 2010s. However, Vince had an issue understanding McIntyre due to the Scotsman’s accent.
While speaking on the latest episode of Logan Paul’s podcast ‘IMPAULSIVE’, Drew recalled a time in 2010 where he cut a promo to Vince in his office, with McMahon being unable to understand McIntyre’s thick Scottish accent.
“When I was younger, maybe I was supposed to win a certain match, a certain Money in the Bank contract when I was a kid in 2010. The finish got changed at the last second. Kane ended up winning that and cashing in on Rey Mysterio that night. I was so angry. I went into the boss’s office, kicked it in, cut this big passionate promo how we have to look to the future and ‘give me the ball. I want this.’ I gave this massive speech that I was so proud of and he looked at me, put his glasses to his nose and said, ‘We’re gonna have to get you elocution lessons, Drew.’ ‘Okay, sir.’ [I cut a passionate speech on the boss], and he couldn’t understand one word of it.”
Elsewhere in the same interview, Drew spoke about tearing up a training room after believing he may miss WrestleMania XL. You can read more about that here.
