Drew McIntyre Talks Vince McMahon's Reaction To WWE Title Win At WrestleMania 36

Drew McIntyre's WWE Championship win at WrestleMania 36 fulfilled the potential Vince McMahon saw in him when he was first introduced on WWE television.

When McIntyre appeared on WWE television in his initial run with the company, McMahon deemed him a future world champion. Although he never got to win a world title by the time he was released by WWE in 2014, he returned to the company years later and finally won the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 36 last month when he defeated Brock Lesnar.

In an interview with Alan John of Sportskeeda, McIntyre talked about the backstage reaction McMahon had after the match. McIntyre said he believes McMahon and Triple H were happy to see their faith in the new champion did not go to waste.

"The backstage reaction was non-existent because of the setup there was nobody back there initially. So, it was kind of weird. But you know when I got to Mr. McMahon and Triple H and obviously, we had such minimal personnel there, the people who were there especially, the crew people who have watched me grow up, you know everybody was very happy and very proud. I think for Vince and Hunter themselves, they were just very happy to see that I have finally kind of grown up and realized the potential they had seen in me all those years ago," McIntyre said.

McIntyre will defend his WWE Championship against Seth Rollins at Money In The Bank on May 10. Fightful will have live coverage of the event.
