Drew McIntyre Thinks He Lost Motivation Before Leaving WWE In 2014

Drew McIntyre hates to see the locker room make the same mistakes he did.

In April soon after Drew McIntyre returned to the main roster, he was on Raw telling the fans that he has noticed some complacency in his co-workers and mentioned some wrestlers were simply "collecting checks." In an interview with SkySports, McIntyre revealed the promo reflected his attitude when he left WWE in 2014

"But when I was there (in 2014), I kind of lost my fire and forgot why I was there, I forgot why I was in WWE and it's embarrassing to think about that. It was only when I left I realized what an opportunity I'd let slip away and I knew I'd never do that again," said McIntyre. "I see a lot of the same looks in people's faces and quite frankly it annoys me. I've been around the world and there are independent stars and NXT stars waiting to take their slots," he continued.

Since coming back to WWE, McIntyre had a run with the NXT Championship before joining forces with Dolph Ziggler on the Raw roster. At SummerSlam, Ziggler will be defending his WWE Intercontinental Championship against Seth Rollins but McIntyre does not have a match or his own feud yet.
