Drilla Moloney Discusses Choosing To Stay With NJPW, The Dogs Leaving The Company

Drilla Moloney explains why he stuck around.
Back in February at NJPW The New Beginning in Osaka, Drilla Moloney made the announcement that he is sticking around in New Japan Pro-Wrestling.
While speaking with NJPW1972.com, he explained his reasoning for staying with the company.
“I feel a unique connection to the Japanese fans and the country as a whole. I never expected to become as beloved and accepted by Japan as I have been, so I guess I have this overwhelming sense of gratitude that made it hard to leave.”
Moloney was part of the now-defunct War Dogs faction, which mainly consisted of himself, David Finlay, Clark Connors, and Gabe Kidd. Connors, Kidd, and Finlay have departed NJPW and have been signed with AEW for several months.
Moloney had the following to say about their departure:
“Don’t get me wrong, I miss Gabe, Clark and Fin, but I had to figure this part of my journey out by myself and I felt like it wasn’t the right time to think about leaving Japan.
War Dogs was the most successful unit in recent years, both in ring and in merchandise sales. But I knew I wanted to stay in Japan and I knew the boys would go and rip it up in AEW and pick The Dogs up right where they left off. So I rolled with it and stayed here.”
Moloney is set for in-ring action at NJPW Dominion on June 14th. He’ll be in a three-way for the IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship. He is in the match with Shota Umino and the champion Andrade El Idolo.
