Dustin Rhodes Reveals He Cried On The Phone With Triple H Following WWE Release Request

Dustin Rhodes opens up about his WWE release.

For over two decades Goldust was a staple in WWE. But as father time and injuries caught up to Dustin Rhodes, WWE no longer had a use for him. Earlier this year, Dustin requested his release from WWE as he wasn't being used on television or being heard backstage. WWE honored Rhodes' release request, allowing him to sign with All Elite Wrestling.

Appearing on Talk is Jericho, Dustin discussed his emotional meeting with the WWE office.

"I had a meeting with them. I said, 'I'm done. I'm tired.' I didn't care what they said. I wanted out. It was emotional, I did cry. And they finally gave me my release. They paid me for my injury time because I was coming off double knee surgery and they paid me during my 90-day [non-compete clause]. I get out of the meeting, I go to the hotel and I get a call from Hunter [Triple H]. We're talking, the tears are coming and it's emotional. He was thanking me for everything I had done for them and him. We hung up and all was well. Then, the legal battle started. It was a long process and when I was finally released, a weight came off my shoulder. I immediately got so much happier."

Rhodes previously compared the end of his WWE run to being in prison. You can view his full comments by clicking here.
