EC3: I Had People In My Corner In WWE, But No One Who Would Step Up

Like many who were released by WWE on April 15, EC3 didn't have a lot going on. EC3 was rarely used once he was called up from NXT in January 2019 after less than a year in NXT.

Despite being known for his promo skills, EC3 was silenced on the main roster because Vince McMahon thought it was funny. Unfortunately for EC3, he had no one backstage willing to step up to bat for him when it came to telling Vince otherwise.

"I think I had people in my corner but nobody that would openly step up because everyone is job scared and apprehensive and no one wants to rock the boat," EC3 said on Busted Open Radio"It's like, 'I can't believe they won't let you talk!' You're in the production meetings, you can say something. I've had one-on-ones with Vince, I did the 'wait four hours in the hallway.' They were always good and constructive. He saw me for what I am; I look good and work good, but I'm not like the workhorse. He doesn't make money off those guys, he makes money off guys with charisma, which I have, and natural ability. He saw one promo and thought it was over the top. I'm like, 'Well, that was one and I could always scale it back.' 'Yeah, well, I think it's funny that you don't talk.' 'Well, it's killing me inside, but cool, man. It's your show.' It's one of those meetings where you feel good walking out of it, but nothing ever happens. I pitched him a bunch of different things, I did a video with Drake Maverick that he thought was great, nothing happened. After a while, you become desensitized. I take accountability; I stopped caring because nothing mattered. I'm totally to blame for nothing towards the end happening besides me being out with a concussion, but it all worked out."

EC3 last wrestled in WWE in September 2019, which marked his last appearance as he suffered a concussion in November. He returned to IMPACT Wrestling at Slammiversary.

Fightful will have live coverage of IMPACT beginning at 8 p.m. ET on Tuesday.
