Eddie Edwards comments on his possible retirement plans, noting that he wants to ride until the wheels fall off.
Edwards is almost a 25 year veteran in the world of professional wrestling, with a large amount of his career taking place in TNA, where he remains to this day. At TNA Genesis, he will face JDC in what will be JDC’s retirement bout from professional wrestling, and now, Edwards has addressed the possibility of retiring.
While speaking to WhatCulture in a new interview, Eddie Edwards spoke about his potential retirement from the world of pro wrestling.
“Honestly, I haven’t thought about it too much, but I think it’s a good thing, I do want to do this as long as I can. Honestly, I want to ride it until the wheels fall off type of thing. So honestly, I don’t know if at the time, am I going to know that I’m done? You know what I mean? It might be one of those things where a match happens or something happens and it goes, ‘well, I guess I’m done’, type of thing, which is making me sad to even think about, but I feel like I’m not a guy who needs a big send-off. I don’t need that. I need some handshakes and hugs in the back from my brothers and sisters, and I feel like I will always be involved, ideally, in TNA and doing something, whether it’s behind the scenes or whatever. But I always want to be around the product because we’re all insane and we’re all in love with this business for a reason. So I don’t think I can get to that point in my life where I can just cut it all off. But again, you never know where life takes you. So that’s where I’m at right now, trying not to think about it.”
Elsewhere in another recent interview, Edwards commented on competing in JDC’s upcoming retirement match. You can read more about that here.
