Eddie Edwards discusses wanting to ‘pay it forward’ as a locker room leader in TNA.
Edwards is currently one of the longest standing veterans of the TNA roster, now becoming a locker room leader not only for The System, but for the wider roster as a whole. Edwards has now noted what he wants to accomplish as one.
While speaking to the I Love Wrestling podcast in a new interview, Eddie Edwards spoke about becoming a locker room leader in TNA, noting that he would ‘like to pay it forward’ for now on.
“For me, a lot of it’s like, I just want to pay it forward type of thing. You know, there’s been, there was guys and girls when I was coming up who would take me under their wing or would give me advice, and I just want to be that for the guys and girls who need it in the locker room. You know, I’m not trying to force my way into anything or trying to force my opinion on anybody, but if people come up to me and they want to ask my opinion or they need help or a bit of advice, I love being that guy like. All along in professional wrestling, my goal was to have the respect of my peers and, you know, to hear somebody like you say that, or even, you know, hear fellow wrestlers say that, the fact that I may be a locker room leader, it’s a, it’s a feather in my cap. It’s something that I’ve always wanted to achieve, and there’s no one way to go about it. It’s just to try to lead by example. I want to prove that when I go out there, I’m going to do my job and I’m going to leave it all in the ring, and I just want to show the locker room like, ‘Hey, this is the way to do it,’ and if they come to me and ask for advice, I will be there for them and just kind of be, be somebody that the locker room can rely on and somebody that the office can rely on. That is my goal each and every week.”
Elsewhere in another recent interview, Edwards spoke about his lack of desire to compete in NXT. You can read more about that here.
