Edge: I Can't Say I Need One More WWE Title Reign

When Edge retired in 2011, he did so as the World Heavyweight Champion, relinquishing the belt in the process.

Edge won the 2021 Royal Rumble and received a Universal Championship match against Roman Reigns in the process, but Bryan Danielson (Daniel Bryan in WWE) was added to the bout at WrestleMania 37. Edge did get his one-on-one match for the WWE Universal Championship at Money in the Bank 2021.

The Elite: We're Getting AEW Back To What It Was Supposed To Be

Having never lost the World Heavyweight Title and being on WWE Raw, the current home of the WWE Title, Edge isn't concerned with one more run with the belt.

“I can’t say that Edge needs it,” Edge told Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated. “When I look at the character, and I look at everything I accomplished with the character, what does one more mean? I don’t know. Is it a cool, redemptive story? This guy had it pulled away from him, and now he’s fighting to get it back. It has a bit of a feel-good, Rocky vibe to it. But if it doesn’t happen, it doesn’t happen. I came back to do this again. Are my storylines compelling? Do people want to watch them? And am I competing at the same level or better than I was before? That is my focus. Mentally, I feel like I’m in a way better place in terms of telling stories than I was when I had to retire. That’s really all that matters to me—how good are the matches, how good are the stories.”

Edge is currently involved in a storyline with his wife Beth Phoenix as they are set to do battle with The Miz & Maryse on Saturday at WWE Royal Rumble.
