Survivor Series is almost here, and WWE Hall of Famer Adam "Edge" Copeland recently gave his choices for a dream elimination match in the Survivor Series tradition and chose to put stars from the 1980s against competitors representing the "Attitude Era" of the promotion.
During an interview with Forbes to promote his appearance on the Amazon Prime series, Bookaboo, Edge was asked to book his own "ultimate fantasy Survivor Series matchup. His response?
"(Roddy) Piper, (Hulk) Hogan, (Ric) Flair, Andre (the Giant), (Randy) Savage vs Bret (Hart), (Steve) Austin, HBK, The Undertaker, The Rock," he said.
An 11-time world champion for WWE, Edge won 31 total championships in nearly two full decades with the promotion, and became the first wrestler in the history of the company to win the King of the Ring tournament, the Money in the Bank ladder match, and the Royal Rumble. He rose to become a main-event performer after breaking into WWE in the tag division with Christian, and transitioned from a fairly comedic role in that pairing to take a more serious tone. During the interview, he was asked if he anticipated anyone in the current WWE tag ranks making a similar successful leap as a solo competitor.
"While E&C were comedic in our promos and some of our in ring stuff, most of our action in the ring was vicious. Think TLC or a conchairto," Edge said. "We made a point to make sure that our promos could be comedic, but when it came time, you could believe we could hang with the Rock and Undertaker because we were smart and wrestled like a pack of wolves. Without that aspect, the transition to 'serious' wrestler wouldn’t have worked I don’t think. As long as current folks are making sure to find that balance, they can transition to anything at any given time."
In addition to his appearance on Bookaboo, Edge also will be part of the cast on the upcoming fifth season of Vikings.
