One of the championship matches on the marquee for NXT No Mercy was the North American Title bout that saw Tavion Heights challenge the champion Ethan Page.

In the end, it was Page emerging victorious to continue his reign. As Page was celebrating in the ring, a video message aired from AAA Latin American Champion El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr.

He put Page on notice and told him that he’ll see him soon. Page and Dr. Wagner Jr. shared the ring at WWE x AAA Worlds Collide in a Fatal 4-Way match during which Dr. Wagner Jr. retained.

On the lead-up to Page versus Heights, Page was in the ring on NXT and was addressing who appeared to be Dr. Wagner Jr. at ringside. That individual wearing the mask was revealed to be Heights.
