El Mesías Talks WWE-AAA, Confirms He Agented El Fiscal vs. El Grande Americano

El Mesías (Ricky Banderas) talks about the dynamic between AAA & WWE, his role in the company, Dominik Mysterio as Mega Champion, and more.

El Mesías (also known as Ricky Banderas) has been one of the most prominent figures in AAA history, being the first ever Mega Champion, and one of the few to be a Grand Slam Champion in the company.

And with that background, Banderas spoke about his standing with the company now that WWE is in the fold.

Speaking with Joel Torres of Contralona, Banderas reflected on making his WWE debut on AAA TripleMania XXXIII, saying it was the culmination of his 30-year career. He stated the following:

“I had been waiting for almost 30 years, which is the length of my career. We’ve been in Mexico, I live there, the United States, here in Puerto Rico, and other countries. But if we look at it closely, what Puerto Rico was, what the United States was, and what Mexico has been are the three territories that are the biggest. I feel that the end chapter of that long career, reaching the big leagues (WWE), in a way that I never thought would happen.”

He also spoke about the main changes in AAA now that WWE has taken over, revealing that he was in charge of El Grande Americano vs. El Fiscal for the 9/7 AAA Tapings as an agent:

“When they appear on the tapings, it’s WWE. If you look closely, the entire production, the stage, the ring, and even the cameramen are from the United States. It has been a great experience to have them come up to you, talk to you, and say, ‘You know what? Good job.’ I had the opportunity on the last taping to be on as an agent to teach new talents like El Fiscal and El Grande Americano.

I handled that match, and they told me, ‘You know what? You’re going to be one of the production matches,’ it was incredible, and I’m starting there. They know everything, your history and that of all the wrestlers, and I think that’s good because they know who they’re working with and who they can count on.”

Banderas also spoke about Dominik Mysterio winning the AAA Mega Title, stating it was the right time for him to hold the belt, and confirmed that Undertaker is the one in charge of AAA.

“I think this is a great showcase. Previously, the championship received considerable exposure, but it declined, and now they are reviving it.

I believe this is the best time for that championship to be worth what it was worth before. This is the best moment for Dominik, and I think that now people will learn what they didn’t know before, what AAA is. I say this because it’s technically no longer AAA; it’s a WWE brand, and the one who runs that territory is Undertaker. He’s my boss.”

El Mesías was the previous AAA Latin American Champion, holding that belt for 279 days.

Banderas has recently been part of El Ojo alongside Dorian Roldan, Mecha Wolf & NGD (Sanson & Forastero).
