Moose will have to go through Eli Drake for his first World Championship.
Impact Wrestling has announced Moose and Eli Drake will meet this week to determine the opponent for World Champion Austin Aries who recently unified the World Championship with the Grand Championship. Aries will face the winner of the match at Slammiversary XVI.
The match was announced via Twitter.
While Drake has had his time with the World Championship, Moose has never been a World Champion but he was Grand Champion two times.
Last week after the promotion announced the merging of the World Championship and Grand Championship, Impact Wrestling announced Moose would be facing Aries at Slammiversary. As of right now, there has been no public explanation why that match was announced before the match this week on television was announced.
Last week on Impact Wrestling, the two wrestlers had a confrontation in the ring during Eli Drake's List of Dummies segment.
