According to WWE, Elias suffered a bruised larynx and broken middle and pinky fingers after being ambushed by Corbin on the April 17 episode of SmackDown.

King Corbin has targeted the songbird multiple times in the last few weeks, as the most recent attack on Friday Night SmackDown followed his assault ahead of WrestleMania that sent his rival flying from the WWE Performance Center perch. Elias had drawn the ire of Corbin with repeated songs mocking the regal competitor through song.

Elias and Corbin have been embroiled in a feud for weeks and the two ended up having a match at WresteMania 36, which Elias won. Since then, their feud continued every week on SmackDown, with their last meeting being Corbin's attack on Elias.
