Ember Moon Wanted To Give Everyone Their Moment In 2019 Royal Rumble, Says Others 'Didn't Want To Work'

Despite an arm injury, Ember Moon entered the 2019 Women's Royal Rumble at number six and lasted over 52 minutes before she was eliminated by Alexa Bliss.

2019 marked Moon's second Women's Royal Rumble. She appeared in the inaugural women's Rumble in 2018 as a surprise entrant via NXT. And speaking to Booker T on his Hall of Fame podcast, Moon discussed working the 2019 Rumble with an injury.

"I hurt my elbow the week before Rumble. I think it's because I've gone so long in my career -- this is me working in year 14 -- and I did a lot of dumb stuff when I was younger. It's stuff where people were like 'you shouldn't do that.' 'Nah, it's fine.' And all of that is catching up now. I did thumbtacks, jumping off ladders, scaffolds, and that wasn't once every now and then. It was two-three times a month and driving six-seven hours to the next show. I think because I was operating at a weird hardcore-esque situation, it's catching up with me. Someone grabbed my arm and just pulled me and I felt something pop. I did that entire Rumble with one arm. I had them tape it shut and they were trying to get me to do x-rays and I'm like, 'I'm good.' Coming from the Indies, I feel like I have a different mindset. I love wrestling and the storytelling of what we do," she said.

In 2018, Moon was in the rumble for roughly six minutes and got to quickly shine before being eliminated. Her role was different in 2019 as she was tasked with carrying portions of the match due to her longevity in the bout. And she noticed a difference between the two years.

"Then I was put in that position where there were a whole bunch of people coming up from NXT and, I'm not gonna say names, but there were people who were very tired and people got frustrated, angry, and didn't want to work. It was like, 'this person is coming in next. Okay, what do you want to do?' I couldn't lift anyone but I wanted to help everyone out and give them their moment."

Moon was sidelined with an elbow injury until April following the Royal Rumble, making her return at WrestleMania to compete in the Women's Battle Royal. She is once again sidelined with a ruptured Achilles with no timetable for her return.

Elsewhere in the interview, she revealed she suffered the Achilles injury during a 24/7 Title chase segment. You can view her comments by clicking here.
