The angle was a work, but there was no follow-up from ROH as they didn't sign Enzo and Cass. Enzo tried to continue things on social media, but it never went anywhere.
Appearing on Busted Open Radio, Enzo explained what went wrong and why there was no follow-up.
"Why it didn't work at that time is because there is a 10% boisterous audience of marks on Twitter that light it up and tag people. They get people scared because they type and say the wrong thing or tag this person or 'he's got these issues and backstage heat.' I cut this promo after and I got this 'iggy' saying, 'go off the rails, lose your shit, make everyone think this is a shoot.' Ok, no problem," Enzo recalled. "Sure enough, the world really thought I was a jerk off and then I wasn't booked or I wasn't brought in to do something miraculous, that we didn't pull it off and somehow the suits and ties that were involved -- that I never even spoke to, no one called me to thank me or got on the phone and said 'that was a great job.' Nothing. They just said, 'we fucked up.' No you didn't, you idiot. You have never in your entire existence in a wrestling promotion been spoken about more in your life. You just dropped the ball! When you do that and don't follow through, you leave such a sour taste in my mouth that when I walk away I go, 'this is what the fuck the Indies are? This is wrestling outside of WWE?'"
Enzo believes he could have sold out the Garden on top with the Briscoes had ROH brought them back.
Busted Open Radio co-host Bully Ray, who was part of the angle at MSG and reportedly help put the angle together, was also angry that ROH did not continue with the angle.
ROH is currently on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Meanwhile, Enzo made a surprise appearance at Talk N' Shop A Mania, cutting a promo and burying the show.
