Eric Bischoff Talks Possible Shawn Michaels vs. AJ Styles Match

Eric Bischoff thinks WWE could be in a precarious position with the rumored AJ Styles-Shawn Michaels match.

In the Controversial Story of the Week segment during this week's Bischoff on Wrestling episode, the former WCW president talked about AJ Styles teasing a match against Shawn Michaels. If the match doesn't happen, Bischoff said the tease wasn’t worth it.

“Once you set the bar that high… that’s the really tricky thing. Especially about pro wrestling/sports entertainment. It’s really easy to hype something. It’s really easy to get people talking about something," Bischoff said.

The Detroit native went on to say that if WWE has it locked in and scheduled for Royal Rumble in San Antonio, this is a great move for them. But if it's not, this could be very bad for them.

"It’s not something that is always easy to deliver on. This is one of those cases. Look, if the match is already made. If indeed it’s going to happen then this is a very cool, organic way to build to a crescendo for that match. On the other hand, if this is just them throwing it out there to see how the crowd reacts it could definitely backfire," Bischoff said.

Shawn Michaels last match in the WWE was at WrestleMania XXVI against The Undertaker. He was forced to retire after that match, as a stipulation of retirement was in effect if Michaels lost.
