Eric Bischoff: Young Bucks Re-Signing With AEW Is A Healthy Decision, There's Less Chance Of Injury

Eric Bischoff shares his thoughts on The Elite re-signing with AEW.

On August 2, All Elite Wrestling confirmed that The Elite (The Young Bucks, Kenny Omega, and Hangman Page) re-signed with the company on multi-year deals. The Bucks and Omega will remain Executive Vice Presidents as part of their new deals.

Speaking on Strictly Business, Bischoff and co-host Jon Alba discussed the news.Bischoff specifically highlighted The Young Bucks and noted that he heard that they're family-oriented people. For that reason, he shared his belief that re-signing with AEW was a fantastic decision.

“Look, for some, if you’re [anywhere from your] 20’s to early 30’s and you don’t have a family, you don’t have a meaningful relationship that you’re concerned about, and you’re having the time of your life and you’re performing and traveling the world, an opportunity to work 300 days a year is a wonderful opportunity. I don’t know the Young Bucks at all, what I have heard is that they’re very family-oriented individuals and if that’s true, and I believe it to be, I think that’s a fantastic decision on their part because they’re prioritizing [family]. Look, it’s not like they’re not making a lot of money, let’s make that clear. They’re probably both well into seven figures. I don’t know what the live event schedule is for AEW, I don’t know if it’s been published, I don’t know if anybody knows, but what are they going to do? A 100 live events a year, maybe?" Bischoff said.

Alba corrected Bischoff and stated that the number is closer to 50 events a year for just TV. Bischoff responded by noting that was a healthy decision, as it meant they had less of a chance of getting hurt. He stated that taking what might be less money for less wear and tear, along with the ability to be with your family, made it a good discussion.

“That’s a healthy decision because there is a less chance they’re going to get hurt. Less times you are in the ring, no matter how good you are or what kind of condition [you’re in], the less times you’re in the ring, the less of a chance you have to get injured. That could derail your career, or just accumulate injuries over time that will stack up and matter once you hit 45 or 50, especially the style of wrestling they do. So I think taking perhaps less money for certain less wear and tear and to be able to spend time with your family and be there for those important moments. Hats off to them, good decision," Bischoff said.
