Erick Rowan Released By WWE

Erick Rowan's time has come to an end in WWE.

The former Smackdown Tag Team Champion joins his Wyatt Family brother in Luke Harper/Brodie Lee by leaving the company after he was let go in a series of WWE releases Wednesday. WWE was in cost-cutting mode due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Rowan primarily teamed with Harper or fought as a member of the Wyatt Family during his WWE run. However, stops and stars to all combinations kept occurring as the team could never stay healthy at the same time. At one point, Harper and Rowan branched off into the Bludgeon Brothers and became tag team champs, but were again derailed by injury.

Rowan holds the unique distinction of being The Rock's last pro wrestling match ever, having lost to him in a matter of seconds at WrestleMania 32.

Over the past several months, Rowan brought a cage with an unidentified item inside it to the ring. After a winning streak, Drew McIntyre squashed the cage. Prior, it had been revealed that an animatronic spider was inside of it.
