Evil Uno Reveals Mystery Wrestling Guitarist Brian Powers Is A Student Of His
Evil Uno discusses the origins of Brian Powers, the mystery guitarist for Mystery Wrestling.
Evil Uno’s Mystery Wrestling events are a vibe unto themselves. Part of creating that vibe is Brian Powers’ guitar playing. But where did he come from? Evil Uno is pulling the curtain back on Mystery Wrestling’s secret guitarist.
Speaking with Joel Pearl of Fightful at C4 Fighting Back 14: Wrestling With Cancer, Uno revealed that Brian is actually one of their students and a damn good guitar player. He’s even been on tour with Gojira. Since Uno likes to shine a spotlight on the unique abilities of those around him, he thought allowing Brian to play guitar would add something to the shows.
“A little inside baseball, Brian is actually a student of ours. He came to the keep to learn professional wrestling, but he’s like a notoriously good guitarist.
“He’s been on tour with Gojira. He tours with legitimate bands. He is a legitimate musician. He’s incredibly talented. I’m sure he will hate to hear this in the public eye, one of the nicest people I’ve ever met, by far. He is generous with his time, so nice, it makes no sense. So when we do these shows, I like to take advantage of people’s skills. That’s why we’ve had people that play saxophone on our show, that’s why we’ve had people that play guitar. So I thought like, ‘Oh, Brian, would you like to play guitar on the shows?’ Not thinking it would be a big deal, we just thought it’d be interesting, and now it feels like it’s almost synonymous with what we do. He’s a very big part of our show, and he was not supposed to wrestle on this show. This just kind of happened because we needed extra bodies, and he covered, let’s say, several hours. He’s incredible. Kudos to Brian for sure.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Evil Uno spoke about putting together a match that exceeded 22 hours in length. Read those comments here.
