AEW Inquired About Using Stardom Talent For Forbidden Door Show

There’s a possibility that Stardom could be a part of AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door.

Fightful Select has learned that AEW inquired about possibility of integrating Stardom talent into the highly anticipated Forbidden Door show. Those that we’ve spoken to from both sides indicated there have been some hurdles, but specifically Toni Storm was mentioned as a name for a Stardom talent to face.

We’ve been told that one of the main talking points is what Stardom talent would be available, as the company has their own show that same weekend. There have been discussions as to how to make it work, and it has been indicated to Fightful that it’s something All Elite Wrestling is hoping to make happen if they can pull it off.

Contrary to a Stardom employee claiming that AEW had not contacted Stardom, we confirmed again on June 11 that some point in May, AEW had expressed interest. Regarding that employee noting that Stardom talent don’t have visas for Canada, those aren’t necessary for wrestlers there.

We’ve also since learned that there were conversations with Stardom in 2022 for a similar booking. In the end, Thunder Rosa ended up facing Toni Storm instead.

Specifically, we’re told AEW had interest in Giulia in the future.
