Alex Kane Discusses Comparisons To Brock Lesnar And Taz, Partnership With Mr. Thomas

Alex Kane is the reigning and defending MLW National Openweight Champion, having won the title in a ladder match on the Thanksgiving episode of MLW Fusion.

Kane is known for throwing bodies, earning him the nickname of the Suplex Assassin. Kane is not the first man to utilize the suplex as his main weapon of destruction with the likes of Brock Lesnar and Taz being known for their specialty in suplexing.

Two Bouts Added To AEW Dynasty Zero Hour

Speaking to Fightful, Kane was asked how often he hears the comparisons to the Mayor of Suplex City.

"In the very beginning, I did. I started to set myself as apart as I possibly can. I started getting more comparisons to Taz, which, to me, makes more sense. I'm cool with that. Taz is the man. As far as getting compared to Brock Lesnar, not too much anymore. Some people still call me 'Black Lesnar,' which is hilarious to me. Some people would compare me to Shelton Benjamin or Kurt Angle or Lashley. I get Will Hobbs a lot. No one really compares me to Brock anymore. I throw more different suplexes than Brock," he said.

Kane joined MLW in May 2021, originally aligned with American Top Team, and has gone on a run that propelled him to champion. After splitting from American Top Team, Kane aligned with Mr. Thomas, forming a formidable duo that doesn't lack for power.

"When I first debuted, I was with King Mo and when I left American Top Team, since King Mo is still in American Top Team, I think things are iffy there. I saw Thomas wasn't involved in anything too crazy, so I was like, 'let me pull this big dude over here and bring him into the Bomaye Fight Club.' I am a muscle myself, but it never hurts to have multiple muscles in a group. It's overkill. That's a good thing," he said.

Kane is set to defend the MLW National Openweight Championship at MLW SuperFight on February 26 in a four-way bout against Matt Cross, ACH and Calvin Tankman.

Fightful will have results from MLW SuperFight when they are available.
