Backstage News
- Kylie Rae worked the WWE Main Event tapings as Briana Ray. Internally, she was listed as "Kylie Ray." It ended up being a combination of her real name, which is Briana Rae. We briefly heard from Kylie after her tryout and she seemed in good spirits.
- Mia Yim is listed as Michin internally after going back and forth.
- WWE still plans to refer to Matt Riddle on TV while he's out of action. We've asked WWE for confirmation on the Bodyslam.net report that he's in rehab.
- PETE WILLIAMS turned some heads when he wasn't referred to as "Petey Williams" on Raw, as he's been his entire career. We were actually told this past summer that was an insistence of Vince McMahon, who demanded he be referred to as "Pete" backstage.
- Dana Brooke vs. Kylie Rae was produced by PETER WILLIAMS on Main Event.
- Cedric Alexander and Mustafa Ali teamed together on Main Event against Edris Enofe and Malik Blade of NXT. Abyss produced the match.
Smackdown Producers, WWE Smackdown December 16
Fightful has learned the following producers for WWE Smackdown
- Tag Titles: Liv Morgan & Tegan Nox vs. Damage CTRL: Peter Williams
- LA Knight and Bray Wyatt: Road Dogg
- IC Title: Ricochet vs. Gunther: Jamie Noble
- Hit Row vs. Legado Del Fantasma vs. Viking Raiders: Adam Pearce
- Bloodline/Cena segment: Jason Jordan
Backstage News
- Mustafa Ali worked the dark match against Mansoor with Shawn Daivari producing. Ali is still on the Raw brand, but his family was in attendance and the booking was to get him to wrestle in front of them.
- Road Dogg is not typically listed as a producer, but was for the LA Knight/Bray segment.
- Kevin Owens was supposed to be featured on the double Smackdown tapings, but couldn't make it due to what WWE told us was a "nightmare travel situation." As a result, Owens had to be written out of the shows and major production and writing changes were made. Originally Owens was supposed to be face-to-face with the Bloodline to introduce the John Cena video.
- WWE revealed the hooded figure to be Xia Li, but fans on social media were quickly suggesting it was Chelsea Green or Deonna Purrazzo. While Chelsea Green is slated to return to WWE, she was not in the building. Deonna Purrazzo is still contracted to IMPACT Wrestling.
- Gunther was stylized as GUNTHER internally
