Bayley Reflects On The Pandemic Era, Says It Was Probably The Most Rewarding Time Of Her Career

Bayley discusses the pandemic era of wrestling.

In March 2020, the world shut down to the COVID-19 pandemic, which also shut down the vast majority of the professional wrestling world. The two giants in the sport, WWE and AEW, were able to continue airing weekly episodes of television, just without any fans in attendance.

Both promotions were forced to be creative at this time, which allowed for some stars to rise to the top of their respective promotion, despite never being at that level before.

In a new interview with Fightful, Bayley spoke about being named the MVP of the pandemic era of wrestling by a number of fans online, including Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp.

"I think it just kind of happened. Honestly, I can tell you they didn’t make a decision where it was like, ‘Yeah, we’re gonna rely on Bayley and Sasha for this stuff. It just kind of happened. I think they saw how much we were killing it and how much that we were able to not only do what they asked, but excel and give them more and more and more. That, honestly, as weird as it sounds, is probably some of the best times of my career and probably the most rewarding."

Fightful went on to ask Bayley about her favorite moment from that era, to which she noted that she doesn't have a favorite moment, but rather a ton of memories.

"I don’t think I have a favorite moment. I have so many memories, especially in the back. TJ Wilson and I laugh about it all the time. There’s so many crazy memories. Having a WrestleMania at the Performance Center was insane. But I think some of the proudest moments I had, the stuff with the Kabuki Warriors, our tag matches with them. I loved the stuff with Kairi and Asuka. But also I had two Hell in a Cell matches in front of nobody, in front of no fans, within the span of a year. I think those were two of my highlights."

Throughout the pandemic era, Bayley held the SmackDown Women's Championship and the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships with Sasha Banks, who also held the Raw Women's Championship at one point.
